What is bonus protection?

Having a protected bonus means that you will not lose all that bonus in the event of a claim. For example:

  • Full Protection - this usually means you do not lose any of your no claims bonus even if a single claim is made. (T&Cs apply) Full No Claims Discount Bonus protection means you can incur one third party or own damage claim, amount unlimited, (in a 3 year period for AXA, Allianz, Aviva & RSA policies / in 1 policy year for Liberty and KennCo policies) without any loss of No Claims Discount.
If you add Full Protection to an AA Zurich policy you can have 2 unlimited claims in a three year period without any loss of No Claims Discount.
Full No Claims Bonus protection is an optional extra and subject to acceptance criteria.
  • None - this usually means you lose all your no claims bonus if any claim is made.
  • Step back Protection - this means that if a claim is made, you would lose part of your no claims discount, but not all of it. For example, if you had a 50% no claims discount, it could be 'stepped back' to 20% (T&Cs apply)
